Wednesday, July 27 11:00 AM
Here is a little history for anyone that may not remember or may have joined in more recent years. There is a small parkette at the corner of Mary Street & Henry St. This park had originally been planned & planted by the neighborhood, after that the town only mowed the lawn and did little else. The Georgetown Horticultural Society approached the town to revitalize the park, for our 90th anniversary, the town agreed. The GHS went to work planning new flower beds, digging out overgrown or invasive plants. Transforming it from a tired little park into a beautiful show piece. There was official unveiling for our 90th Birthday. Since then we maintain the gardens & the town still mows.
This year Carol Matheson & Wes Weaver co-chair the care of this park. Work parties are about an hour of deadheading and weeding. Anyone is welcome just show up at any or all the time listed below. With a pair of clippers & maybe a trowel, pitch-in and visit.
Also note there is a picnic planned for July 20th, after the maintenance is done we'll pull out our brown bag lunches & sit around on the grass, or if you'd like you can bring a blanket or chairs or sit at the picnic table. Have our lunches catch-up with each other about anything we've been doing so far this summer &/or what we still have planned or anything else. There will be ice tea or lemonade or some other cold drink provided by the Society.
The more the merrier. look forward to seeing you there.
Come grow with Us!
